COVER LETTER
To whom it may concern,
I am writing to apply for the Specialist, Project Engineering position. Following a review of the job posting operational requirements, I am convinced my education and career skillsets meet or exceed the criteria to excel in this position, and my resourcefulness and determination would make me an ideal asset for your team.
In my CV I have illustrated the essential skills I would bring to the position, including:
My Experience. As an experienced military engineer I am often called upon to serve as a consultant when building teams and managing projects, coordinating safety and environmental health audits, involving intergovernmental agencies and stakeholders, during operational training and domestic operations with a high level of confidence from my cohorts and seniors. As a key player in leadership positions, I have managed resources, individual performance evaluations, leadership mentoring, while ensuring high quality standards are defined, communicated, and met in complex work environments. I have occupied team/project management positions in two domestic operations, including the 2017 flood relief and the 2021 pandemic. It goes without saying, the experiences gained in the Canadian Forces have provided me with considerable mental and physical resilience when faced with the lively conditions of Canadian climates. A few of my experiences can be glanced in my CV, otherwise I would be glad to further elaborate in an interview.
My Education. My time at McGill has provided me with the proficiency in defining engineering problems, communicating and design solutions, and weighing and evaluating proposals based on stakeholder constraints. I have learned to function well within engineering and project teams, where recently I was a member of a winning team who won the BRIDGE renewable energies "Most Technical Project" proposal Additionally, my Capstone project team won the Undergraduate Design Award for a novel insulation technology application in a greenhouse we designed and built which reduced the standard heating/cooling costs by 30%. Prior to McGill, I have obtained a college diploma (DEC) in environmental and wildlife management.
Please see my curriculum vitae for a more detailed overview of skills and interests, otherwise, I would be glad to answer any questions.
Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Dale Mays
